MAKER’S PRAYOGSHALA

Beyond books

This is a first of its kind DIY lab where little scientists can give shape to their ideas through hands-on do-it-yourself models. They learn innovation skills and get a chance to work with tools and equipment which help them understand the concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We have specially designed a range of experiments custom-designed and developed by experts after extensive research.

At the wake of NEP and SDG targets, we have designed this sustainable and customised learning model that houses a stimulating infrastructure, host of experiments, capacity building workshops and evaluation to empower Gen-Z and promote application-based learning at an early age.

STEM education is the need of the hour and is a revolutionary step in the education industry. STEM careers are often referred to as the jobs of the future, driving innovation, social wellbeing, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

STEM in India:

India is one of the countries that produces the highest number of scientists and engineers, the growth of STEM has picked up significantly over the last few years. STEM education in India has become an integral part in catering to the need of fulfilling the loopholes in the education structure that is hindering the growth of the employability and skill of students and graduates in India.

National Education Policy recognises the importance of application-based and evidence-based learning. The skills like coding and learning by doing should be learnt and adapted to churn young minds into innovators and leaders. Stem education will close the gap between education and research

According to a report by UNESCO, only 35% of STEM students in higher education globally are women, and differences are observed primarily within STEM disciplines. The economy of a country will only rise when all the sections of society will contribute to it. STEM education is providing abundant opportunities for women to become self-reliant.

The lab focuses on enquiry-based learning to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds. It also inculcates skills such as design thinking with an application-based approach through adaptive learning. Our vision is to empower these young minds to become the creators of their own future.

Impact:

  • We have achieved a remarkable student retention ratio.
  • Students are exposed to innovative application-based learning patterns at par with best practices around the world.
  • The overall exam passing ratio of the district has noticeably improved. More numbers of children are appearing for competitive exams.
  • Students are equipped with resources that have opened opportunities to a wide range of professional prospects.
  • Involvement and ownership amongst teachers are augmented which has given a boost to the overall educational scenario of the district.

We have successfully created a Maker’s Prayogshala – A DIY STEAM Learning Lab in 40+ centres in tribal regions of Gujarat benefitting more than 10,000 students that addresses the alarming drop-out ratio in the region.

Our path-breaking initiative has been awarded the prestigious SKOCH order of merit for its revolutionary vision of STEM for the tribal community.
